UFO Spotted

Swallowtail Shawl.  Ooooh, yeahhhh.  I forgot about that one.  It has been sitting in a basket for months, squashed flat by books, patterns, yarn, etc.  I'm knitting it with some alarmingly vivid Alchemy Haiku, which doesn't take well to the constant force of several pounds of pressure.

I decided that I should go ahead a finish it before moving on to yet another shawl, especially with Sarcelle proceeding so slowly in the background.  So, I got it all straightened out and concentrated my efforts on getting the first section completed so that I could start the lily-of-the-valley section.

Except that I went one pattern repeat to far.  Grrrrrr...

I, then, decided it would be easier to rip back than to do the math, but I chose the most humid day of year to attempt this undertaking.  I now understand why people say you should avoid knitting with mohair in the summer.  It was sticking together like crazy.  I was using my tiny scissors to clip the fibers that clung between the stitches, but on two occasions, I accidentally clipped the yarn instead, forcing me to rip back extra rows.

By the time it was done, I had to reknit an entire pattern repeat.  But, I did, and I've at least started on the lily-of-the-valley section.

Look--I have achieved nuppage!

I just need to get the notion out of my head that they look like hot pink spider eggs.  Brrrr...

Grace is coming along.  I've finished the back and am moving up the left side.

Not the most exciting project to knit, but whattaya gonna do?  I like it, anyway.

i'm finishing up my swallowtail, too. i'm three rows into the peaked edging and after no mistakes for the entire thing, i'm suddenly starting to screw up.

yours looks fantastic though! i love how bright that yarn is.

Stephy, if anyone is going to make me use gorgeous colured yarn (instead of charcoal, grey and almost black!) it'll be you.

Stunning projects. x

gosh. i don't like pink, but that Swallowtail shawl is gorgeous!

Love the Swallowtail!

Oh, that color! Fabulous!!
Those nupps are a lot of work, but worth it in the end. Perhaps you can see them as hot pink butterfly eggs instead!
